Danube Region Upper Austria
Danube Region Upper Austria
INCREDIBLY MOVING
Do you remember that feeling when your heart started pumping as soon as the curtain rose at the puppet theater and revealed its magnificent setting? This is the same childlike joy that everyone experiences when they step out onto the platform that provides a view of the Danube loop in Schlögen. It is the flagship of the Upper Austrian Danube region, which extends from Passau, 180 km downstream, to the small village of Grein. Starting from the steep bank slopes at ‘Donauengtal’, up to the wild and romantic shores in ‘Strudengau‘. In the middle of it all lies Linz. The UNESCO City of media arts is a vibrant melting pot of cultural hotspots lined up right next to the Danube. Coincidence? We don’t think so! Here incredibly moving nature, superb cultural experiences and charming spots shape the route of the river in Upper Austria. Discovering the region along the Danube Cycle Route or by foot on the Donausteig, you inevitably embark on a search for the extraordinary.
